Fostering With Us

Fostering is all about looking after someone else's children in your home, which may be for a few days, months or even years. These children need your help because of circumstances beyond their control. They may have been abused or abandoned or their natural parents may no longer be capable of looking after them.
Fostering is about giving children a better chance in life; children that without people like you would face a less than bright future.

We offer children a great diversity of family experience, including different family structures and a wide range of placement environments, from the most rural to inner city.

New to fostering:

Becoming a foster carer is both a rewarding and a challenging career choice. It is unlike any other job role you will have had before. By providing a welcoming home and the chance to become part of a family, you will be giving a young person the chance to rebuild their lives, regain their confidence and ultimately the opportunity to look forward to a better future.
Personal development is not limited to the young people in our care, all our carers grow and develop as they progress in their fostering career. A fully comprehensive training package means that each carer has an opportunity to develop his/her key skills at their own pace. As many of our carers will tell you though, there's no substitute for learning on the job.

Experienced Carers:
Increasingly, people who have worked in the care field or who have fostered with someone else are joining Pathway Care because of the increased level of support and the additional rewards we offer. Many of these carers are interested in becoming "specialist carers" for children with complex needs.

We are keen to recruit people with a care background to look after children with disabilities and complex needs. If you are currently fostering with someone else and want to discuss transferring to Pathway Care, or are working within the care sector and want to change direction, please contact your nearest regional branch.

We recognise our foster carers as an important part of the children's workforce and as skilled people who provide an invaluable service to society, as such we pay carers a very competitive rate of pay which is line with other professional careers.
