Redundant workers from the LDV factory in Birmingham alongside several thousand other people seeking employment attended a two day event hosted by Job Centre Plus at the Aston Villa football ground last month.
Pathway Care, one of the UK’s leading fostering agencies which had a stand at the event reported a huge amount of interest from people that had been made redundant from LDV and other industries in the area.
More than 5,000 people attended the event , which sadly reflects the impact of the recession on the West Midlands. Nevertheless, Pathway Care were keen to listen to potential foster carers who are at the point in their lives where they are ready to change direction and do something different with their lives.
In addition to full time foster care, respite care options were discussed with people looking to provide care for children with disabilities, a new service currently being developed by Pathway Care. Many visitors to the Pathway Care stand were interested to learn about the different options, placement types and career development within fostering that the agency were offering.
Conor Rooney, Marketing Manager said “For anyone interested in pursuing a new career, whether as a result of redundancy or as a complete career change, fostering can offer an ideal career choice.”He added “ We’re always looking for existing carers or new foster carers from all backgrounds, regardless of gender, marital status, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
More people are realising that fostering offers a rewarding career, flexibility and competitive salary.”
