BBC Inside Out and Pathway Care join forces
04.02.10
BBC Inside Out is an investigative series looking at issues surrounding life in the West Midlands. On Monday, February 8th at 7.30, Nick Lawrence (the programmes producer) discovers the authorities are struggling to cope with a massive rise in child asylum seekers.
Pathway Care were approached in the autumn 2009 and asked if they would consider participating in the making of the programme as we were considered to have particualr expertise in this area. A number of meetings were held during which various members of the Pathway Care team including Alison Parsons - Director of Service Development and Joyce Masson -Regional Director Midlands helped the BBC to understand the issues and help shape the programme.
Given that the focus was on Birmingham and features Birmingham City Council (one of Pathway Cares' most important customers - we are a Tier 1 preferred provider), we and the BBC met with Colin Tucker, the Head of Birmingham's Children's Social Services to ensure that they were happy with our participation. Our openness and participation will help to strengthen our relationship with the customer.
Filming took place during January at the home of one of our most experienced UASC carers in Birmingham and at the Bromsgrove Regional Support Centre. The filming featured two of Joyce Masson's team, Annie Jobson - Placement Officer and Annette Botting - the Duty Social Worker.
The programme will also be available to view on the BBC iPlayer.
Annette Botting (Duty Social Worker) & Annie Jobson (Placements Officer) enjoy a lighter moment with Hannah Smith (BBC Researcher) before filming commences
