Foster Care Fortnight Thank You Lunch
20.05.10
The Cambridge office of Pathway Care celebrated the start of National Foster Care Fortnight with a thank you lunch for the team's approved carers. The event was well attended and Neil Banks, Senior Practitioner, thanked all the carers for their hard work and commitment to the children in their care. The event was held on Wednesday 19th May at the Ploughman's Hall in Willingham.
Foster Carers based at the Oundle office also celebrated National Foster Care Fortnight with a thank you lunch for all their hard work and commitment to the looked after children in their care.
Vince McGrath, Regional Manager, thanked those carers attending the event. It was also an opportunity for carers to relax and meet together, along with team members from the Cambridge and Oundle offices. Carers were invited to attend the forthcoming open day to be held on Wednesday 23rd June.
Karen Parsons, the agency's Carer Recruitment Officer (East England), comments: "These lunches take place annually and are our way of saying ‘thank-you' to our carers for all the hard work they put into providing a safe and supportive environment for babies, children and teenagers during the year."
"We feel these lunches are a great way for carers to get together and share experiences, as well as feel they are part of a network of carers. From our point of view it gives us an opportunity to also let them know about forthcoming events in the Pathway Care calendar and talk informally about their work.
"Our carers provide children from all types of backgrounds with the care and support that gives them a ‘stepping stone' to a brighter future. Most carers are looking to make a difference for children and to give something back into society. Whilst it can be challenging at times, foster carers fund it truly rewarding in helping a child to a better life. Our care support workers work alongside them and give them all the support they need."
The Cambridge office are currently recruiting new and experienced households to fostering who live in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Bedfordshire.
