LOCAL FOSTER CARERS ATTEND ANNUAL ‘THANK-YOU’ LUNCH

20.05.10

The event, which also co-incides with national Foster Care Fortnight (17-30 May),  attracted a good turnout, despite a late venue change because of an electrical problem at the usual venue at Ely Cathedral Centre.

Pictured are just some of the foster carers who attended the event.

Karen Parsons, the agency’s Carer Recruitment Officer (East England), commented: “It was a shame we had to move venue due to unfortunate circumstances, but everything went smoothly thanks to the staff at The Ploughman’s Hall. We were delighted to see so many of our carers at the lunch which gave everyone a chance to share their experiences.

She added: “These lunches are our way of saying ‘thank-you’ to our carers for all the hard work they put into providing a safe and supportive environment for babies, children and teenagers during the year.

“Our carers provide children from all types of backgrounds with the care and support that gives them a ‘stepping stone’ to a brighter future. Most carers are looking to make a difference for children and to give something back into society. Whilst it can be challenging at times, foster carers find it truly rewarding in helping a child to a better life. Our care support workers work alongside them and give them all the support they need.”

Pathway Care is staging a second lunch for local carers at its office in Oundle on Wednesday 26th May, also between 12pm and 2pm.
