EXCELLENT ‘TURN-OUT’ FOR PATHWAY CARE THANK-YOU EVENT

03.06.10

This was the second such event laid on by Pathway Care during national Foster Care Fortnight (17-30 May) – a similar event was held in Willingham, Cambridge.

Pictured are some of the carers along with Pathway Care staff.

The event attracted 15 local fostering households and, according to foster carer Kay Garton, it was a great success. Kay, who lives in Corby, Northampton with her partner Sue, commented: “It’s nice to get together and share your experiences with other carers, as well as meet up with the Pathway Care staff.

“We have been fostering an absolutely gorgeous 11 years old boy who was our first placement three years ago, as well as more recently, a young girl of a similar age, who is also really likeable,” she said.

Karen Parsons, the agency’s Carer Recruitment Officer (East England), commented: “Our carers do a great job and work hard to provide a supportive environment for babies, children and teenagers during the year.”

The lunches enable carers to share experiences and make them feel part of a network of carers as well as find out about forthcoming events in the Pathway Care calendar.

Karen added: “Our carers provide children from all types of backgrounds with the care and support that gives them a ‘stepping stone’ to a brighter future. Most carers are looking to make a difference for children and to give something back into society. Whilst it can be challenging at times, foster carers fund it truly rewarding in helping a child to a better life. Our Family Outreach Workers work alongside them and give them all the support they need.”
