Hello, welcome to Pathway Care South East Wales, my name is Wendy Keidan and I'm the Regional Director here at our offices in Cardiff. I have worked for Pathway Care for nearly five years.
My social work career spans almost two decades! I qualified in 1987, working initially in a Child Protection Team in Merseyside - where my roots are - before joining an innovative fostering team in Cheshire.

In October 1997 I was appointed to the post of Team Manager, Fostering and Adoption. The job entailed relocating from the North West to Wales, where I was quickly initiated into a very busy and challenging local authority. This post evolved during a significant period of local and national change, with the introduction of the Fostering Services Regulations in 2003.

My key professional driver is to ensure that the needs of some of the most vulnerable groups of children in our society are robustly met through sound values and ethical practice.

I believe that Pathway Care wholly abides by its mission statement of " Leading to a better future" The staff it employs and the foster carers it recruits work extremely hard to give children and young people positive experiences of "ordinary" family life. The paradox is that this "ordinary" family life is provided by extraordinary people who strive, to make a real difference to many childrens's lives.

Since 2002 the South East Wales team has grown from eight team members to twenty three, including myself as the Director, three Principal Officers, twelve supervising social workers, three outreach workers , one social work therapist and three administrators.
