Hello, welcome to Pathway Care South West Region. The Region has two offices one based in Bristol and another in Newton Abbot, Devon.  The Region was formed in June 2007 when Families First (SW) Ltd became part of the Pathway Care group and as Regional Director I have responsibility for the services provided from both of these offices. I joined Families First in February 2007 and worked with the then owners of the business to manage the service in its period of transition to becoming part of the Pathway Care group, and was appointed as Regional Director for the South West region in July 2008. Before joining Families First and Pathway Care I spent 30 years working for various Local Authorities primarily in services for Looked After Children, my last job being the Resource Manager for Devon County Council with responsibility for Fostering, Adoption, Residential Care and Family Support Services across the County. In my career I have always been committed to developing and delivering high quality services for Looked After Children and their families and that commitment is as strong now as it was when I started in my first job in 1977. In my long career I have seen enormous changes in social work and how services are provided to children and their families, the one thing that has not changed, however, is the need for children and young people to have stable and consistent care in their lives. I know that if this can be provided many of the disadvantages faced by children who are looked after can be overcome and their chance to succeed in areas such as education and work in later life are greatly enhanced. I believe Pathway Care provide the high quality foster placements required to care for and support children and young people who need to be looked after away from their natural families. In my post of Regional Director I am excited by the prospect of working with carers and staff in the region to build on the already excellent services provided by them. I am also committed to increasing the number of children who can benefit from our services and so would welcome anyone who wishes to become a foster carer for Pathway Care to contact us and hopefully become a member of our team.
